free frites

who says you cant score any freebies in the city? well, that's usually the case; but, by some miracles or uncanny abilities, once in a while, one could score free lunches. well, in my case, tonight more like free dinner. an unhealthy yet tasty one at that. passed by the pomme frites store to hang out and claim my free regular order of belgian fries only to realize that they were giving me a large order ($6.25 value). wasn't able to finish the whole large cone of potatoes (i didnt run on the treadmill for 25 minutes just to stuff myself with tons of fries after). and as i was asking for a paper bag to wrap the leftover, they gave me another regular order ($4) to take home. oh me oh my.

but anyway, ive been enjoying myself visiting the small store. not so much for the fries but more for the small conversations with the filipinos there. it's good being able to speak and hear filipino for a change. and of course being exposed to filipino friendliness. only met those guys probably thrice and there they were showing pics of their kids and internet pals. rey who worked in a club in japan for 14 years even showed his pics with filipino actresses joyce jimenez, katya santos, etc during their japan visits. and eric showed his 2 kids and shitzu back in the philippines. promised to pass by again tomorrow. but also promised not to order any more fries. much as i like the belgian fries a lot, especially when they're free. i think ive had my week's fill already.

not sure if its a filipino thing or not, but ive noticed that filipinos work best in an office/work environment where they are able to have a little bit of freedom to do personal shit during company time. talking to friends, checking ones email, etc. pardon the humility, the lack thereof, but i think the frites boys enjoy their work much more when im around. they do tell me, but of course. and obviously i enjoy being exposed to the sort of exposure to other people that's part of what they do too. so, it all works out.

but anyway, off to more important matters. as usual, spent a few hours at work doing personal shit. well, personal masterpiece shit actually. was able to work on a few more spreads for the upcoming book about the NL trip. here's one of them.
