foti (vs finnerty) friday
for the past fridays, the agency had celebrated FOTI FRIDAY, a day of dressing up for john foti, a writer on the team. last friday however, in support of john foti's statement against the corporate world's friday dress down policy, a whole pack of creatives came into the office armed with their neckties, sweaters, and suits. (me being the loser i am, came to the office in my worn-out jeans and rugby shirt. i did however lend a tie to krissy which earned her some kudos in one of her meetings.)
at noon, the whole friday crew had a fun-filled with matching exploding hi-fives lunch together. foti however was left behind in the office, slaving for corporate america (and listening to his iTunes). while the gang was out, the day was officially renamed FINNERTY FRIDAY, named after tom, the art director. foti later on expressed his disgust for not being included in the lunch and the day's rename in an office memo sent to everyone in the gang, "Hey Guys! WOW - looks like you SURE did have FUN! Does anyone wanna play Word Sramblers® with me after school today?!?!? I'll be by the swingset. Hope you can make it! By the way - i hate you all."
oh the excitement. oh the office drama. oh the tongue-in-cheek humour. oh i cant believe foti doesnt know how to play solitaire and i had to setup that shot above. oh i cant wait for what happens next friday. will it still be called foti friday? or is it going to be finnerty friday? or will it just be plain st. patrick's friday and everyone comes in their green ties, sweaters and suits? and everyone goes out together as one big happy irish family for a booze-filled cabbage and corned beef lunch out?

enough soap, time to switch channels. time for some reality TV action—almost got myself into some real life episode of cops as i was this close to getting my first ever ticket. ok, i exaggerate. was off to a bar in prospect heights friday night to meet with an officemate and her friends, biking through the dark projects-rich area, when i was stopped by a white cop. he goes, "do you know that you can't bike on the sidewalk?" i go, "sorry i didnt know that." of course i knew. i was just avoiding being hit by some hummer with crazy badass mad rims although i did have my helmet on to protect me. at that point, he takes a look at me and realizes that i aint from da hood. he asks for an ID and pretends to write something. he lets me go with a "take care of yourself" reminder and a matching "WTF is this asian or mexican williamsburgh boy doing in this neighborhood!?" look to his face.
i did get to the bar safe. and got home safe as well. nice bar with a great booze selection. the belgian witbier dentergem went well with the almost springtime weather and the "cant get too buzzed lest im found dead in some empty lot on my bikeride home" feeling. was great to meet lisa's friends as well. and learn more about their dating and sexcapades. will make sure to hit that bar again next time. although, ill probably take the train instead. or not.
bad boys, bad boys. whatyagonnado whatyagonnado when the cops catch you. bad boys.
