live jazz at fave neighborhood cafe

there was a slight change of plans last night. was all set to play badminton but instead i had to stay in the office a bit later than usual and pick up my bike after at the nyu dorm or else they were going to throw it away. the bike was saved a premature death. and since i stayed late (ok 7:37 really isnt -that- late), i treated myself to a nice dinner on agency expense of course. good job. bit of an early morning on monday though coz the car service is set to pick me up at 7:30 for a 2 plus hour trek to the clients in pennsylvania. should be a good trip coz being the sole creative there i get to use my nonexistent acting skills again to present our storyboards. plus of course we get to go to a nice lunchplace in the area; hopefully no denny's this time.

but enough business, it's the weekend. on the way back home from last night's dinner, walked past satchmo's, the friendly neighborhood cafe. turned out they had a live jazz band playing. quite good actually. very cozy atmosphere. no cover whatsoever; even had a huge bottle of red wine for everyone to share. felt like being at a friend's living room, except i dont know that many living rooms that have live jazz music really. bit unfortunate though coz in the middle of the music, there was talk of the cafe being evicted from the area. i guess america is finally taking over the street—dunkin donuts just opened and i hear that italian butcher shop is being taken over by tasti d•lite, new york's #1 frozen dessert. ridiculous news obviously but we'll see. in god we trust. united we stand.

here now at newsbar cafe, enjoying the non-frozen indoors and a nice cup of green tea. chillin a bit after a good racquetball game with the instructor. got beat bigtime (15-3) but was a good game nonetheless. none like a nice loss to start a saturday. dinner and drinks at some iranian acquaintance's place tonight in b'klyn. hopefully, sarah the dane could make it so it's another night of iran-denmark riot. hopefully no one gets hurt in the crossfire, especially those damn sensitive and serious filipinos. ha..

enough bs. time to enjoy the cold outdoors. good weekend everyone. carry on.
