show me your card trick, i'll show you mine
been quite nice and chill in the office the past days. actually, it's bit busier than usual. but as usual, the others get to do all that fun stuff while i get to work on some other fun stuff at a leisurely pace while trading a few card tricks here and there every now and then. was able to impress quite a few with my trademark trick but i must admit foti's is the best trick ever. he cuts the cards into six decks. you pick whichever top card you want. you remember the card and put it back at the top of any other deck. he puts all cards together and asks, "is it not the 5 of diamonds?" "no." "exactly."
they're fattening us in the office as though in preparation for being offered to the clients. a photo house sponsored a portfolio review breakfast. nice spread of food. not just the usual bagels and cheese and fruits. they even had eggs, bacon and tortillas. and yogurt and granola. for lunch, the account people ordered boxes of pizza for us since we've been working really hard. ok, i guess the others in the team had. tomorrow's the monthly agency birthday party—all the finger food and booze you want til supplies last. nice, nice.
i've built this reputation as the birthday card guru in the agency. whenever there's a birthday, a baby shower, wedding shower, or someone leaving in the team, im usually the one asked to come up with the card. quite fun actually coz it breaks the usual flow of work. and you get away with saying all sorts of nasty, possible hr violation shit without actually getting called by HR. tommorrow, we celebrate vicki's birthday. knowing how she's surprisingly the guiness and tequila shots type, we're skipping the usual cupcakes and going straight to all that heavy stuff. i saw all the bottles they bought this afternoon actually and all i can say is it's going to be one long nasty afternoon tomorrow. oh, i did mention that there's also that agency-wide party, right. well vicki's comes immediately before that.
before i give my mother a heart attack, or myself a kidney one. dont worry. ive been taking excellent care of myself actually. ive established a morning jog-in-the-park ritual. still not the optimum weather for running though as i still get the occasional nosebleed but it feels great getting that early morning boost. great complement to whatever after-work fitness activity i get myself into. well, tonight was yoga. which is getting crazier and crazier. i can hold the shoulder stand much longer now and im getting closer and closer to doing a headstand. but let me not bore you with all that spiritual-physical nice crap—
the weekend's looking good. tomorrow night is jazz night here at satchmo's, the friendly neighborhood cafe where i am right this moment typing away. have invited friends over, should be fun and relaxed to balance out the craziness in the office. saturday morning's at the art directors club and then i got 2 parties lined up in the evening. chill. sunday morning's yoga detox session. and hopefully, just hopefully, i could finally convince myself to do some spring cleaning. although spring it already is, it still freezes like its winter. but im not complaining, i hear tequila shots are enjoyed best when its cold and nippy out.
cheers! or as they say, lick, slam and suck!

crap. just checked my office email now. (oops, did i just reveal what a corporate slut i really am checking office email in a cafe.) turns out they moved one of my afternoon meetings to 10AM tomorrow. i guess i better get there earlier than the usual 9:47 coz im not even done with what needs to get presented. fart. ok, time to pull something out of my bag of tricks.
