a more permanent home, for now
first things first. look up. check out the web address. yes, this site no longer is housed in blogspot.com. a little work and planning over the weekend and there you go. my own web domain, finally. a little bit early though coz a more permanent web address was meant to be one of the projects for next year. but it was not an idea worth putting on hold so just did it. there you go, one less resolution for '07.
aside from setting up the site over the weekend, was able to hit the good ol neighborhood cafe to enjoy some looking ahead and back over a nice cup of mocha. going through old stored photos, funny to see the past places id considered home—the room in manila. which of course, still is home whenever id go back to the philippines. the small room in queens which meant home for my first 2 years here in new york. and now, here i am in a rented williamsburg studio, living on my own. taking care of my own mess, paying for my own utilities and all that fun stuff.
looking at the different places ive considered home, i realize ive been here in new york for almost 4 years and a half. jesus, you gotta be kiddin me. more than the amount of time, what's more amazing perhaps is the amount and diversity of people ive encountered. who wouldve thought id actually establish good friendships with some dutchies here in the city. (well it was new amsterdam, after all, i guess.) co-workers who constantly suprise me at how nice people they really are (already got 2 holiday cards when i was really expecting none). a dentist and boss's boss who've given me some freelance projects (sweeet). some other filipinos, mostly from my old manila university, whom id meet on occasion whenever that craving for homestyle food comes. and the faces and personalities go on.
needless to say, well, actually probably the first time im saying it, it might take a while before i leave this city. seems like a very reasonable place to live in for now. a perfect place and homebase to be moving around from. with that in mind, good news or bad news, i finally decided to get the process of getting a green card started last week. and it should be a year-ish to get that done. that doesnt count out living in europe for sometime soon though. in fact, it just might make it easier. but for now, and perhaps for a little while, this is it. home sweet f*ckin home. so feel free to come visit. you can all sleep in the balcony.

in other good news, i guess it's a step closer to being official. im being promoted to art supervisor in january. my boss finally told me. after finishing a video with him last friday, he told me, "you might, actually you will, hear some good news in january." of course, i already knew what he was referring to. sweeeeet. maybe i can get that toilet with flushing problems fixed now.
