houston, we got another winner

ed, the lone officemate who was able to attend the art show in chicago last thursday, was back in the office today. full of photos and stories. bad news: i missed some really good shitfaced partying and drinking. good news: i avoided a weekend of incapacitation. and even better news: my book, viva españa won first for the exact same category last year's spreek je filipijns won in. good job. great timing especially that i get a 50 dollar giftcheck to go with it, just in time for the big trip this friday. and also, perfect coincidence coz my headhunter all of a sudden sent me an email in the afternoon, checkin in on how im doin. great to have some improvement/accomplishment to show obviously. or even the thought that i still have some creative bone left here somewhere.

winning again in that art show feels great obviously and what makes the news sweeter is that somehow it feels as though everything's building up to the great big trip to hong kong and manila. especially now that ive been coordinating with my sister in manila on what's on the agenda and even on the breakfast menu. sounds good to me. can't wait obviously. looks like a great trip in the making. and of course, most probably, another award-winning travel book in the works. or not.
