the parties run into overtime
the four-day party hearty was officially over last saturday, but fortunately, the celebration has not ceased.
sunday—
had a nice brunch with nik and julia. discovered a nice little backyard garden place in the west village perfect for sunday brunch. nice cappucino. and breakfast food. felt very nice and cozy. we got to chill in washington square park as well after, people-watching and sharing stories over 2 street performers playing their guitars. nice atmosphere to go with the breezy lazy sunday weather. (locked myself up in the nyu library whole afternoon though to get some serious work done on the personal book project but i did pass by the pomme frites shop at night to visit folks there just to be sure i still had some social skills intact)
monday—
was labor day. holiday for us corporate slaves. and so, i invinted friends over for a barbecue in the old apartment in queens (yes, i have this bad habit of inviting friends over to a place that's not even my own, haha). was a nice little barbecue. the pork chops were very tasty (soy sauce, pepper, basil, fresh rosemary from zi garden and a whole lot of MSG, just kidding about the MSG as i do have plans to live beyond 46). it was a nice relaxed get together. best monday in ages. it was a little bit on the hot side though, especially for me who biked all the way there from manhattan. well, it was either too hot or im probly just not fit enough (well, we'll see when i run 5K in a week and a half from now, but that's a different story).
tuesday—
danette, an officemate who's been with the agency for 5 years, is finally leaving. we had our regular team status meeting, and at the end of it, surprised her with her favorite cupcakes and a card and a framed goodbye poster of all of us that i was willingly tasked to do. she couldnt hold back her tears as most everyone else tried to. kinda sad to see her leave, as she has been very nice to work with. very nice thoughtful person. even wrote goodbye notes for everyone. she will be missed that's for sure.
anyway, enough of the sappy stuff. at night, the team headed down across the street to hog pit. enjoyed the nice and greasy food over booze AND a little pool and foosball. was really fun having fun with the folks. brockie the brit was hilarious. he drank a little bit, and it was good to see the jolly englishman in him (not that he needs the drinks to show it actually). no one was more fun (read: great to watch) though as jim—this a bit drunk art director who was taking the foosball games really seriously. he was shouting and screaming all over the place at every goal of his just as he used to in his old college days. and boy did he agonize over every point against his team (but of course, it was the table's fault). oh, it was hilarious as well how he was sports-butt-slapping the girls while playing pool. you da man jim. you da man! (but i think he's gay actually based on the match.com pages that are on his office monitor sometimes but nevtheless and since he also drives a harley) you da man, jim!! except i scored the goal of the night. right out of the kick in. midfielder drives it lightning fast straight into the goal. no one even sees it or gets a piece of the ball. pacheco scores a GOAL!! o-le-o-le-o-le o-le...!
things ahead—
tonight, there's a free typography class im heading down to soho for with officemate julia. and a quick stop by pomme frites for some belgian fries and good company. tomorrow, watching the US open live. unfortunately, sharapova whom i was set to propose to tomorrow, wouldn't be there. oh well. big loss for her. a week and a half from now, a 5k walk/run in the morning straight to a barbecue upstate new york with officemates where i would have brought my then-fiance sharapova to. but then oh well, again. would have been nice to have told ma the good news when i got to talk to her over the weekend.
anyway, on to serious stuff. a lot of sick folks out there. well maybe more so in the philippines, i guess. a former officemate got mugged. and a friend's dad passed away after being shot over a traffic altercation. sick world. sick world. but that's life.
---
back to jason reality though—the personal book did not go into labor on labor day as was expected, unfortunately. its proud parent, il jointman, decided against its premature release as he is continuing to improve on the pet project. expect something really nice though coz a lot of blood, sweat and tears (more like tall mochas actually) went into the book's conception. here's the intro spread work in progress while the anticipated release happens—

Nice Font! Nice Pics... Kuya.. san mo nakuha ung mga fonts?!
fonts madalas ginagamit ko yung sa opisina (dahil binibili usually ang mga fonts, lalo na yung mga matitino, eh for personal projects like this na walang budget except for coffee, medyo senseless bumili).
you could download fonts though, some for free, from sites like dafont.com.
