doing it the jason way

things are going pretty well in the office. yesterday, earle and i had presented our storyboards/concepts for an upcoming depression tv ad internally (ok, so maybe im not supposed to be blogging this so shhhh). we had a total of 12 concepts and of those 12, 5 have made it to the top 10 we're proceeding with to further flesh out. quite happy with it actually coz a total of 4 creative team pairs presented a total of 25 concepts, and of the 10 still in the running, half of em are ours (tsk, tsk, tsk, quite a monopoly). unfortunately, our favorite concept of people seeing themselves in "missing" notices was weeded out for fear of rubbing the victims of 9-11 and katrina the wrong way.

however, what's emerging as the early agency favorite so far is one of our other concepts we're quite happy with—a board with very dry humour, something which i've always wanted to do (coz it's quite the "in" trend nowadays and it's quite a challenge to pull off effectively). not quite sure though that those conservative clients will buy such a "creative" approach to the challenge but it's a good board nonetheless and it's definitely always good to give people something more than what they expect.

towards the end of the debrief, julian, the creative director reminded everyone, "make sure to do all our [story]boards the way jason did" (and of course, jason immediately gave himself an invisible pat on the back, or was that visible? good job, jason. good job. there's something brown on your nose though. and i think your head's getting a bit bigger.)

just so i don't appear as though work is the day's only source of great joy, i did have a nice dinner with eric, pomme frites worker friend. by nice i mean, really disgustingly heavy. but disgustingly heavy in a good chix-and-ribs-and-wings heavy sort of way. but of course, i feel like puking now coz i dont think ill be able to digest all that food.
