surprise treat to start the week
gotten off work close to 6. was well on my way walking straight to the nyu sports center when out of nowhere decided to make a quick right and head to the yoga institute instead. i didnt do yoga over the weekend, and last week for that matter. but i hadnt done any yoga class during a weeknight prior as well. but then the yoga gods or nike gods whispered out of nowhere, "just do it." and do it i did. and quite thankful that i did—it was the best yoga class so far. i guess there's something special about doing yoga at night, or after a very "actively thinking" monday workday, or perhaps simply because it was unexpected. but anyway, enough overthinking. bottom line is it was the deepest relaxation id ever had in years and the most "empty" and clear my mind has felt as well. it was a great unexpected treat to start the week off.
inspired by the pleasant surprise of changing one's "plans," i decided to go for a bike ride instead of doing an after-dinner jog/walk. found myself heading to the small park by the east river enjoying a nice view of the williamsburg bridge and a few jews discussing i dont know what. was good to see. had that nice feeling again that comes with doing something else than what i had set out to do.
big lesson for the day: its good to have plans but it's always nice changing things up at the last minute. keeps the mind open and leaves things nicely unexpected. try it. surprise yourself. next time, instead of turning right, make a sharp left instead. just make sure its not a one way road your getting into though.
