josh gosfield
with a nice carryover trippy feeling from the previous night's partying, i headed to the art directors club yesterday morning.
it was josh gosfield's turn to lead the day's workshop. josh is by far the most interesting artist of the 3 that have presented so far. (not necessarily the most decorated artist by far, but personally i feel, the most interesting character).
josh gets bored easily. once he starts getting really good at something, he diverts his creativity into something else. this good kind of ADD has turned him into a photographer, an illustrator, a filmmaker, a fine artist. he never specializes and as such has earned a great distinction as one of those who are very hard to describe and box up into a single category.
it was great listening to his stories and beliefs. like that story about him, a jewish boy growing up in a farm. or that principle of his that since inspiration comes from anything and everything, there is an importance to live and experience as much of life.
flipping through a scrapbook he brought of his month-long trip to nepal 6 years ago, you could sense that this man has lived. and even better, has tons more of adventures to live ahead. when i grow up, i wanna be just like him. minus the goatie that is. and the scruffy hair. and the hey im an artist look.
but first things first, i have to make sure my own presentation next week turns out A-OK. plus maybe get a haircut.
