getting into a good rhythm

did an hour's worth of swimming laps tonight and it's amazing how much having a good rhythm could do. not having swam laps for quite a while, i was really ready to call it quits during the first 10 minutes but i guess i just got into it and managed to surprise myself with going the distance. i realize it's usually overcoming the initial it's too cold and i'm running out of breath thoughts that are the hardest but once you get into it, apparently you just get going.

newton's first law of motion at work, i guess. an object in motion will stay in motion and an object at rest will stay at rest unless acted on by an unbalanced force. much like this morning i guess. i had to wake up a little extra early to meet with my dentist for some project of ours before coming to work. waking myself up was quite a task obviously especially with the pitter-patter of the rain. but after a few snooze buttons, i eventually mustered the energy to get up.

and boy was it a good morning. headed my way up to central park south to my dentist's office. nope, not for another tooth implant thankfully. instead, i presented some designs i worked on over the weekend which he needed (sorry cant say what it's for coz i signed one of those confidentiality crap). and sweeet, he was quite happy with the work, and picked the one we're going ahead with with very minimal changes. and 10 times sweeter, he approved my proposed budget (granted he did say "yikes!" when i said the figure). after the meeting, a sense of fulfillment filled the air. (and it helped too that id get some change to fill the wallet as well.) and somehow, the positive energy and sense of invincibility carried through the day at work—got some concepts approved and managed to get another freelance project in the works—and lasted even after. at least up til the moment id realized how wrinkled my hands were from swimming. ok, even after that, cooking myself a nice grilled herb chicken with veggies dinner.

thankfully, a body in motion tends to stay in motion. unfortunately, a body at rest tends to remain at rest. so note to self: make sure to wake up each morning having a reason to get up coz once you get going, there's no stopping.

speaking of no stopping, travel plans for the year are getting set. end of may, flying to new zealand to spend a few days there with the whole family and then we're off to sydney and the gold coast til june 10th. now, i just need to figure out where to get the money to pay for these trips. ooh, maybe i do a euro '07 trip in august too. and spend christmas in manila. sounds good to me.
