behind the scenes

things are a-flyin at work, literally. am in the middle of a video project where martial arts meets matrix meets limited budget. we had the shoot wednesday at globus studio complete with blue screen and all sorts of food to stuff yourself blue. was a video & photo shoot in one. was a whole slew of us from the agency and a whole pack of them as crew.

high flying action

worked with steve l the photographer and steve g the director/editor. also present were 2 of the 3 actors we used last year. one of them was doing his absolutely insane stunts. a black-belt karate master able to do a roundhouse kick straight into a split. crazy stuff. was a fun day. lots of fun working behind the scenes and giving some creative input being the lead art director of sorts. good to be seeing one's concept slowly come to fruition. and in the process, getting a taste of the often associated glamorous fun stuff side of advertising.

brahma: brasilian cerveja

from one fun side of advertising to another—redcar, the production house we're working with, hosted one of those industry parties that night. a number of us at the agency showed up. what's usually a whole lot of space was all of a sudden a fire hazard waiting for cops to bust. was a good party with free flowing booze and occasional faces you'd bump into (and that feeling of wow, i actually am starting to know people in the industry).

i was a walking pick-up line with my brasil world cup jacket. was waiting for lisa and mei to get done with their bathroom business, when all of a sudden a girl was literally pulling my jacket off. she mistook me for being brasilian obviously but was a great conversation starter nevertheless. talk jumped from the world cup to personal projects, to brahma (the great-tasting brasilian beer), to meeting up again once she gets back from her trip to germany for the world cup. gooaal! o-le-o-le-ol-e-ole!!!

sunday brunch at pastis

was a good party friday night as well to celebrate an officemate's birthday. went out for a few drinks at the park to kick off the weekend. not so good though was the slight hangover i woke up with saturday morning. but who am i to complain. hangovers are fun. besides it wasnt really that bad coz i was up early for an early morning yoga detox sesssion which was probably not the best idea in the world coz i was this close to passing out. what with that dehydration and sweating in a 100 degree room. sunday was quite chill though. enjoyed a nice brunch with ivy and her vancouver friends at french bistro, pastis. and enjoyed the rest of the sunday biking round town and watching some footie at mc carren park.

monday and i'm here now at redcar actually. sitting on the couch. doing my blogging and letting the editor and animation dude do the work. already had my ham & egg breakfast, sushi lunch, the million times checking my email, and have gotten myself beaten twice at pingpong by the director. not bad for a monday. nice way to start a possibly another kick*ss week which includes a party with the olsen twins on wednesday. hopefully i catch some paparazzi-worthy pics to make myself rich. we'll see.
